Taking Time to be Creative

Not everyone is an artist. Although I dabble in photography and graphic art as well as writing, I’m far from being one, myself. But that’s okay and I’m good with what I do. The thing is, being creative comes in many forms and focusing your energy on ‘creation’ is one of the best things we can do for our world and ourselves.

The term, creativity, evokes a plethora of wonderful meanings such as…imagination, originality and innovation. Without these things, our planet would be very, very dull. Human beings, despite all of our shortcomings, are the absolute MASTERS of creation and if you’re not doing something (anything) in your life to explore and express your own individuality, you are doing yourself a huge disservice.

I know what you’re thinking…

“But, I’m not good at anything!”

“I failed art!”

“I suck at these things!”

That’s cool. It really doesn’t matter one little bit if you suck at anything because it’s the PROCESS that matters. It’s taking the time to express yourself in whatever manner suits you that is important. Really, I mean it.

You don’t have to show your artwork, your poem or your pottery to anyone but yourself and please, PLEASE stop judging your abilities. You ROCK at whatever you do simply because you’re taking the time to DO IT.

Being creative, no matter the genre/flavour/capacity/area of what you’re doing, comes from within and allows you to access your higher self and tune in to your spirituality and higher vibrations. It let's your mind stop worrying about all the little shit, the bills, the stuff you have no control over, and gives your soul permission to ‘be’ itself and that, my lovelies, is good mental health.

It’s healing and if you (for even a few precious moments) let yourself enjoy the simplicity and the wonder of your pure imagination, I promise you, you’ll feel better.

Now get out there and find your creativity. It could be cooking, knitting, writing….whatever turns your crank. Lastly…it’s good for your brain!
