I am a solution-focused therapist so if you’re looking for a way forward from an existing problem, you’ve come to the right place. What I mean by that is, together, we will identify all the things that you do well and from there, we will use those strengths to help you reach your goals. SFBT (Solution-Focused Brief Therapy) is short-term, and goal focused so that you’re not in therapy forever and can move on with your life. A better life, one that you envision yourself living but you just need a little help getting there.
This is where counselling and hypnotherapy come into the picture. As a CHt (Certified Hypnotherapist) in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and a Certified Life Counsellor, my promise to you is to make sure that you’re seen, heard and that you know that you matter.
What I offer
Everyone knows someone who has quit smoking but still says they’d like one with a drink, or after a meal. And what a terrible place that is to be. Having to deny yourself something you want all the time. That’s why I use an approach that helps you become a true non-smoker, not just someone who is resisting smoking.
The ‘stopped smoker’ courageously resists having a cigarette, while the non-smoker couldn’t think of anything worse than smoking. That’s if they give it a thought at all.
My approach to smoking cessation hypnotherapy changes the unconscious mind of a smoker to an effortless non-smoker. The techniques I use address every single psychological trick that smoking addiction plays on you and frees you from its grip.
Smoking cessation hypnosis with me will gently move your mind from its current addicted state to complete freedom from cigarettes.
I know what it’s like to suffer from anxiety and what a panic attack looks and feels like. I would like to rephrase the words “panic” and “attack”. They don’t help those of us who’ve had to experience them. They do the opposite by invoking negative feelings within us, causing fear, and making things worse. I can help you understand your ‘anxiousness’, help you determine what’s causing it and then assist you in releasing it.
You’d be surprised how many folks have trouble relaxing and being present in the moment. Relaxing enables your body to come back into balance be releasing stress chemicals. You may be that person whose thoughts whirl around in your head, non-stop. Has your mind ever demanded that you ruminate about all the little things you can’t change, or insist you worry constantly about the future? Maybe you even start to imagine all the things that could go wrong – long before anything has actually happened? You’re not alone! All of us do this from time to time but we don’t have to.
I can teach you simple techniques that will increase your wellbeing, giving yourself permission to let go and release the thoughts that don’t serve you.
Why Counselling & Hypnotherapy?
Often, people choose to see a counsellor or a hypnotherapist for the very same reasons. When I decided to get my diploma in hypnotherapy, it also included counselling as part of the learning path. I’ve found that the two combined together in a session works wonders and speeds up the healing process so that you can move into the new and better life you envision for yourself.
There is a lot of confusion and mistrust about hypnotherapy so let’s clear the air. First and foremost, I want to emphasize the word ‘therapy’. Everything that I do, is therapy.
The state of trance (hypnosis) is a very natural state that we go into every day. Whenever you daydream, meditate, whenever you get so engrossed in a movie or book, that the rest of the world simply fades away – you are in trance.
Trance is simply: a state of focused and relaxed attention. It’s the ‘zone’ you go into when you’re running, painting, creating…working out at the gym; you can lose track of time and all things external are muted or simply faded into the background so that they go unnoticed.
During a hypnotic-state, you are always in control. In fact, I don’t do anything but help you move yourself into trance. I am the facilitator; you’re the one doing most of the work.
I can’t make you do or suggest that you do anything that you don’t want to do. It’s your subconscious that I communicate with when you’re in trance. This is the place where your feelings, beliefs, and urges, live. Some core beliefs, habits and some emotions can be hidden from your conscious self. Often, this is why we find ourselves stuck in a behavior even when we know it’s not good for us.
Together, we can begin the journey towards the person you want to be and the life you want to live.
